City of Fort Wayne Board of Public Works Declaratory Resolutions

Dating from 1876 to 1988, this collection of more than 1,400 Declaratory Resolutions documents the opening, vacation, condemnation, widening, relocation or other actions related to public rights-of-way for streets, alleys, utilities and City projects. The resolutions often include a formal resolution from the Board of Public Works, a map, legal description, petition from property owners and other documentation related to the request before the Board. These records help to document the development of the City of Fort Wayne and are often useful to title companies and others interested in researching real property history in Fort Wayne. Many Declaratory Resolutions are referenced in the Board's minutes, which are available on this site in the Minute Record Books subcollection.
